Blast Radio's Spotify Success

Blast Radio is the University of West London's very own student-run radio station, with a whole range of shows and hosts. This year has been especially successful for the station, with their recent collaboration with Spotify standing out among many key moments. We caught up with Amaan, Station Manager, and Ayaan, Head of Music, to talk about how far the station has come.

The station's Chairperson, Jess, has built a strong relationship with the Student Music Network - an organisation that supports students across the UK gain opportunities in the music industry and connect with other student-run media. Through this strong relationship and hard work, they have achieved their latest accomplishment; their own official Spotify Playlist.

"They posted on Spotify UK account and it was like it was sort of like a pinch me moment that this happened because we worked so hard this year; to get this over the cherry on top." Amaan, Station Manager

Blast Radio x Student Music Network launched their Spotify official playlist "Students' Union" as a curation of student music and new discoveries, all chosen by Blast Radio members. It was specially hand picked to feature London College of Music students, London Noise Records' artists and musicians that have been featured on the radio show. We have been listening on repeat, it's the perfect way to discover the talent around us. With over 17,000 saves, check out what the hype is about from our very own at UWL.

Blast is celebrating their 30th Anniversary this year, with plans for an extra special broadcast. We are buzzing to see what they have in store - make sure to keep an eye out on their socials so you don't miss out!

The station members are keen to continue to grow Blast Radio over the next year, welcoming anyone and everyone who wants to join. The possibilities really are endless - any student can come on and start a show about whatever they are interested in. Whether that's a music show, or a podcast talking about your favourite interests.

"We want more people to be part of it. Anyone can be a part of it. We want to make it a bigger, better, fun, big family." Ayaan, Head of Music
