Course Reps: What do they mean for you?

Over the last month, the SU has been coming into lectures to elect your Course Reps for the academic year. You might be wondering what a Course Rep is. We’re going to dive into what they do and what this means for you...

What is a Course Rep?

A Course Rep is a student who is elected by their class to represent everyone’s views to the university. They are able to take feedback from other students, good or bad, and communicate with lecturers and UWL staff to make changes that matter.

Course Reps work hard to improve their course in any way that will benefit them and their peers, based on the feedback and opinions they receive from you and other students. You can talk to a Course Rep about loads of things, as long as it’s to do with your time at UWL academically. For example, course content, facilities, learning resources, workload, and many more subjects relating to your course.

What kind of things can they do?

Course Reps work with our School Reps, UWLSU staff and academic staff to put forward your feedback and discuss changes that need to be made. Here are some things Course Reps helped to change last year:

  • Changes to the shuttle bus service

  • More social activities for courses

  • Pushed for more vegan food options

  • Gaining access to software for Macs

  • Improvements in timetabling, giving sufficient breaks for students

Make sure to keep your Course Rep in the loop with any feedback you have, it's how we are able to keep improving things for everyone!
