Gaurav moved from India to study his master's in Business Administration and kickstart his career.

At the beginning of his time at UWL, Gaurav felt welcomed into the university by every staff member and Student Representative. From day one, he was given all the help he needed to get off to a smooth start.

As Gaurav is studying a masters, his course can have a heavier workload, and what has helped him to manage it is his fixed teaching schedule, which includes enough time off to work on assignments and pick up a job alongside his studies. On top of this, everyone at UWL has been "really helpful" in making sure Gaurav is enjoying his time here.

"The university takes care of every student, and they give opportunities to everyone."

Taking part in group projects has helped Gaurav to build confidence and overcome his fears. Being able to have the opportunity to do group presentations is the best part of the course for Gaurav, because he gets to practice real-world situations that will benefit his career. He's also able to develop a skill that allows him to be more confident at job interviews.

"After giving presentations, it has brought out the confidence in me that I can go into any interview."

Gaurav is incredibly proud of securing a job at UWLSU's gym! He worked hard to achieve this opportunity and do well in the interview. He's been able to learn a lot from his role, with staff ready to teach him everything he needs to succeed. At each step of the learning process, someone is there to show him what to do, then he is given the space to put it into practice. This allows Gaurav to take in the new skills effectively.

"At every step, [the SU] guide me and push me to go further."

After moving to London, Gaurav found it difficult to be away from his family and his life in India. He made sure to call everyone back home often to keep his mood up. Moving to a different country can be a tough adjustment for the first few months, but Gaurav's advice to focus on your learning and soon enough it'll get easier.

"Do not get demotivated, as soon as things settle down it will be smooth."

Overall, Gaurav's experience in London has been an amazing one that has given him the building blocks to start his career!
