Now in his final year, Saif has had a uni experience full of socialising, networking and learning. This year, he has joined an astonishing 9 societies and sports clubs, plus has been part of many more throughout his time at UWL.

Coming to uni as a quieter person can be an intimidating experience, and one Saif overcame by making new friends through societies. He threw himself into lots of new experiences to learn about new subjects and cultures as well as his course. Doing this has helped Saif to make a ton of friends along the way!
Saif is the Chairperson of the Aviation Society - a student group focused on his course subject. By joining the society, Saif has had countless opportunities to learn from pilots and has access to the Flight Pad every week - along with the other society members.
"I've met Emirates training pilots, the British Airways CEO and a lot of pilots from different airlines. Their experience and way of teaching us has been the best."
UWL's flight simulator is used by different pilots to train, and the committee of Aviation Society have built up a strong relationship with them, which means they are always willing to share their knowledge with students!
On top of the Aviation Society, Saif has joined countless societies to add to his social life at uni. One of the biggest advantages of being part of different societies for Saif is that he gets to meet different people from across the university. He gets to learn a lot by making friends from other courses and cultures different than his own.
"I've learnt a lot about different things, from Gaming Society all the way down to the culture within the Nepalese Society. "
Another part of UWLSU that helped Saif to step up his uni experience are the events. Saif has come along to a range of events, including free events, crafting, awards and club nights! One thing that stands out to him is how the Students' Union put the same amount of energy into our free events as our paid ones, so every experience is incredible. After coming to different activities put on by us, Saif says that "the way the SU runs events is like no other SU".
"We've got the staff, we've got the vibes, but we have something no other uni has, a family in our SU."
It's clear that Saif is passionate about his course, Air Transport Management. He has learnt a lot from his lecturers, who have been super supportive in helping students get ready for their future careers. Saif has even got extra support from lecturers outside of his course, when he was interested in learning about other topics.
"One thing about this uni is that all the lecturers here are friendly. I even talk to lectures from other courses that have given me lots of advice. "
If there's one piece of advice Saif would give to any student, it would be:
"I would say make friends, join societies and don't be scared to ask your lecturers for help."
