Marcell has come to uni with a drive to propel his career into aviation and is clearly passionate about his chosen path.
Marcell is studying BSc (Hons) Air Transport Management – Airline and Airport Specialist. He’s now in his final year, having taken every opportunity to grow in his field. A huge boost for Marcell’s learning has been joining the Aviation society within UWLSU; a group of students studying or just passionate about aviation. They put on loads of activities that have helped Marcell to learn a lot. They often have sessions in UWL’s Flight Pad where they can practice flying a plane. The society also organises pilots to come in to walk them through a flight, as well as answer any questions they have!
“Being in the Aviation Society helps me to meet new friends and engage with industry experts.”
Being part of a society has also boosted Marcell’s social life a lot, being able to spend time with other people who have similar interests is an amazing way to find a community for yourself. A lot of the members work at Heathrow Airport, so spend time together outside of uni too, growing their experience as well as building real friendships.
Having industry experts as lecturers on his course has enabled Marcell to gain incredible insight throughout his course. On top of industry knowledge, Marcell has become so much more skilled and confident in his assignments, especially presenting. Marcell’s classmates come from diverse backgrounds, which has not only allowed him to meet some great people but grow his communication skills and learn how to engage with others effectively.
Overall, university has given Marcell a kickstart into his career, from gaining firsthand experience through work, gaining learning opportunities within Aviation society and developing his interpersonal skills. It’s incredible to see how much Marcell has gained from his time here!
