UWLSU have now opened our brand new Community Cupboard, a new initiative started by President, Maisie Kelly.
Something amazing has been happening behind the scenes for a while to hopefully give students a helping hand when they need it. UWLSU's Community Cupboard is now up and running, next to the SU front desk at the Ealing campus.
This is somewhere students can come to pick up a few items they are in need of, when they are struggling to stock their own cupboards. We will keep this stocked up with food and other essentials that can support people to get by.
Part of Maisie's priorities that she set at the beginning of her term included advocating to support students during the cost of living crisis. This is a huge contribution to her work surrounding this issue and a big accomplishment that she spent a long time planning!
"I am so glad that the Community cupboard is up and running and I would like to encourage students to make use of this resource and all other support the student union and university offer!"
The Community Cupboard is open to all students, Monday to Friday between 9am-5pm. It has a range of food inside, from ingredients to instant food. We ask that everyone considers others in their selection and takes a maximum of 5 items, to make sure everyone who needs to make use of the cupboard has a fair chance.
We are excited to have this launched and can't wait for students to make use of this initiative!
