UWLSU's sporting event of the year went off with a bang! This year, we unveiled our new partnership with UCFB, who we rivalled for the first time at Varsity 2024.
The day kicked off at Trailfinders, with Men's Football 2nd team throwing their all into the first match of the day. Spirits were high as the crowd formed to watch the teams battle it out on the pitch. It started the day off right with everyone putting full energy into supporting our team! Dance put on their first performance of the day, leading the Football halftime show. They showed off their skills with a perfectly choreographed dance to a montage of songs.
Netball put in the work throughout their game for a successful win and an end result of 37-28. With a dramatic start to their match after the rain started to pour, it soon brightened up in time for them to celebrate the win. An amazing performance all round from the players!
Women's football played a high energy game against UCFB and showed off their training in the 90-minute match. They did well to keep up the pace as their skills were tested. The team were celebrated at halftime by Cheerleading, who performed their impressive routine on the pitch. It brought the vibe up to another level and showed how strong the support is that teams have for one another!

A brand-new event was added for this year's event; Indoor Cricket. A friendly game was put on between the universities to introduce the popular sport to the day. Every single player threw themself into the game and showed how much they love the sport! It was an outstanding success for the newly added sport.
Over at Gunnersbury Park, Men's Basketball were working hard, putting all their effort into the game. Spectators gathered around the court to watch the intense game and cheer on the players, who fought to the last minute against their rivals.
The penultimate match was Men's Football 1st team vs UCFB. The team really showed up for this game and gave it their all. The energy was high as the rivals battled it out for the win. UWL Football performed amazingly and ended with a near-win of 2-3.

Everyone gathered to watch Dance's performance, as they showed off their talent flawlessly for a second time! Everyone loved the performance even more than the first time, with a whole new routine for spectators to enjoy.
Finishing off the day, Rugby took to the pitch to show us what they're made of. The energy was high as they ran on for their guard of honour, with UWLSU's Cheerleaders their to cheer them on. It was clear from the get go that this game would be action-packed, with the competition heightened after a day of matches.
Cheer took to the pitch at halftime for their second, even bigger routine. The energy was phenomenal and they blew the crowd away. It's clear how many hours they put into rehearsing and learning new skills to perform at their best!
The Rugby match continued with even more passion than the first half, with our team pulling it out the bag with a win of 26-29!
